The Restoration of our Porsche 968 Club Sport
After lots of hard work from the bodyshop staff at Chartwell, the restoration of the Porsche 968 Club Sport has reached an end. Great care has gone into this project; each piece of the vehicle having been meticulously worked with. All of this effort has now been judged at the Silverstone Classic event. The event took place on the 29th-31st of July and our Porsche didn’t do too badly. Not only did it come 2nd place over all but also, managed to scoop a few more awards in the process. The car won the award for Best Paint & Body as well as The Spectators’ Choice award and even managed 2nd place in the Mechanical and Marketing categories.
During August the fully restored Porsche travelled to the Nürburgring in Germany to celebrate the achievements of the restoration project. Those travelling to Germany with the Porsche participated in the Old Timer Grand Prix, an event spanning 3 days where many classic cars from all over Europe are showcased.
Next came the Lockton Register Rendezvous at Kedleston Hall, Derbyshire on September 10th. Around 400 Porsches were present on the day along with our 968. The event was a chance for the Porsche Club of Great Britain to get together outside of a race-circuit type environment.
For the last event of the year, we will be showcasing the Porsche at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show in November held at the NEC, Birmingham. The event brings together 2,500 stunning classic bikes & cars, over 600 specialist exhibitors & traders, some 270 bike & classic car club stands and plenty to keep visitors entertained throughout the weekend.
