At Chartwell, the UK’s number 1 supercar body shop, we pride ourselves on tackling some of the most challenging projects in the automotive world. Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to restore a true motorsport icon: the legendary Jordan F1 “Buzzin’ Hornets” car.

Our expert technicians faced a thrilling challenge from the start. Rebuilding an F1 car is no small feat, and getting the signature fluorescent yellow just right was particularly demanding. Matching such a vibrant, high-visibility colour required meticulous precision and multiple coats of specialized paint to achieve the iconic glow.

Before we could even begin painting, the car needed extensive structural repairs. Every curve, panel, and component had to be restored to its former glory. Once the bodywork was perfected, it was time to prime the car. Our advanced paint technicians, equipped with cutting-edge mixing systems and digital colour-matching technology, ensured we could pinpoint the exact shade of yellow from a palette of over 60,000 options.

With the car’s body gleaming in its fluorescent finish, we welcomed Tim Wilson, from Wilson’s signs and graphics. Tim applied the final touches, ensuring every iconic decal and sticker was perfectly aligned to bring the Buzzin’ Hornets back to life.

The result? A stunning revival of one of F1’s most iconic machines brought back to its original, track-ready glory—another example of how Chartwell continues to set the standard in elite automotive restoration.
